What is a Smile Makeover?
A smile makeover is typically completed through a combination of cosmetic dentistry procedures, allowing Dr. Marlin and Dr. Talmazov to provide the appropriate solution for each issue you are facing. Depending on your needs, your cosmetic makeover may include:
Having extensive wear of her teeth, Sarah was very self-conscious about her smile. With her new temporary crowns, she had an immediate smile makeover and “couldn’t be happier with the outcome.” She feels“as if a huge weight has been lifted having addressed my dental issues with such a professional and talented team.
To experience our level of unsurpassed quality for yourself, contact Dr. Gerald Marlin or Dr. George Talmazov at Elite Prosthetic Dentistry today online or call us at 202-933-6068. In addition to these cosmetic services, a smile makeover may include treatment for decay such as tooth-colored fillings or porcelain inlays and onlays. It may also involve whitening teeth that are not receiving restorations to help ensure a consistently bright appearance throughout.

Examples of Different Types of Cosmetic Makeovers
Below are a few examples of the many different cosmetic makeovers that we have performed. You can view more smile makeover photos in our gallery.
Tetracycline Staining and Severe Tooth Discoloration
Tetracycline-stained teeth or other dark-colored teeth present a special challenge for an aesthetic makeover. Veneers were not an ideal solution since a very strong white opaque would be needed to block out the dark stains, and the result would have ended up looking very opaque and fake. Instead, crowns were used to create a dramatic transformation.
Diastema, Spacing, or Gaps Between Teeth
The focus of this smile makeover was to correct a large diastema (space) between the teeth while still looking natural. The key was making the crowns fillinging the space appear narrower than they were and spreading out the spacing along with all six anterior teeth. As a rule, we can make all of the teeth appear natural by having several teeth absorb the extra width (instead of just the two central incisors). This patient also plans to have several of her back teeth crowned, as well, in the future.
Enamel Erosion from Dysplasia Causing a Mottled, Rough and Discolored Appearance
An individual’s teeth can develop with mottled, discolored enamel that makes them appear unsightly. Before her smile makeover, this patient was very self-conscious about her smile. With her crowns in place, she now has a radiant white smile that she is proud to show off.
Fixing the Gummy Smile
This patient came to us looking to address her gummy smile. We designed her temporary crowns and referred her to a periodontist who reshaped her gum tissue to blend with her new crowns. With the final crowns inserted, the change was striking.
Severe Wear Detracting from Her Appearance
Starting out in a new career, this young woman was unhappy that her severely worn teeth were detracting from her appearance. We returned her bite to its original height (a very advanced process) and recreated the shapes of her original teeth by blending them naturally with her facial profile.
Complete Aesthetic Breakdown
In this case, a combination of discolored teeth from too much fluoride in the water, tetracycline staining, and unaesthetic crowns amounted to a complete aesthetic breakdown. We provided the patient with a bright smile by incorporating extra enamel (translucency) to keep her “whiter teeth” natural-looking.
