Examples of Different Types of Cosmetic Smile Makeovers

Tetracycline Staining and Severe Tooth Discoloration
Tetracycline-stained teeth or other dark-colored teeth present a special challenge for an aesthetic makeover. Veneers were not an ideal solution since a very strong white opaque would be needed to block out the dark stains, and the result would have ended up looking very opaque and fake. Instead, crowns were used to create a dramatic transformation.
Diastema, Spacing, or Gaps Between Teeth
The focus of this smile makeover was to correct a large diastema (space) between the teeth while still looking natural. The key was making the crowns fillinging the space appear narrower than they were and spreading out the spacing along with all six anterior teeth. As a rule, we can make all of the teeth appear natural by having several teeth absorb the extra width (instead of just the two central incisors). Enamel Erosion from Dysplasia Causing a Mottled, Rough and Discolored Appearance
An individual’s teeth can develop with mottled, discolored enamel that makes them appear unsightly. Before her smile makeover, this patient was very self-conscious about her smile. Fixing & Rehabilitating the Gummy Smile

Severely Worn Teeth Detracting from Her Appearance
Starting out in a new career, this young woman was unhappy that her severely worn teeth were detracting from her appearance. We returned her bite to its original height (a very advanced process) and recreated the shapes of her original teeth by blending them naturally with her facial profile. Complete Aesthetic Breakdown
In this case, a combination of discolored teeth from too much fluoride in the water, tetracycline staining, and unaesthetic crowns amounted to a complete aesthetic breakdown. We provided the patient with a bright smile by incorporating extra enamel (translucency) to keep her “whiter teeth” natural-looking.
