Precision Implant Placement - Case Study
PIP begins restoratively with our in-house, state-of-the-art laboratory designing your final crowns’ aesthetics and function whose image will be superimposed on the CT scan (yellow arrow) that will fit over the implant site and scans its image to a CT scan of the jaw.
- Implant (red arrow) on the CT scan to fit under the image of the crown (yellow arrow).
- A CT scan generated Surgical Guide is then fabricated for inserting the implant in that position.
- Using the guide, Dr. Marlin surgically inserts the implant in the jaw to fit precisely under the preplanned crown.
- The temporary restoration (yellow arrow) is then placed over the implant (red arrow), maintaining your smile at all times.
- Where indicated, Dr. Marlin also rebuilds the jaw with bone grafts to regrow bone in extraction sockets and rebuild resorbed ridges for the best aesthetics, function, and long-term success.
- Oral or IV sedation is provided to reduce your anxiety and make your implant and bone graft surgery a gentler process.
- Our patients experience very little pain after the surgery. Most of them only need Advil, Motrin, or Ibuprofen as the post-operative medication, even though they are also given stronger medications as a backup.
Advanced Dental Imaging Technology
Rather than relying on guesswork at the time of your surgery, we plan out the procedure beforehand using our advanced dental imaging software. Before Dr. Marlin places the implant, he first virtually installs the implant on a CBCT scan image and then use a precise surgical guide to insert the implant where it would be best looking and functioning. Additionally, this approach not only allows us to optimize the position but also avoids damaging important structures such as blood vessels and nerves, thus providing a very safe and efficient scenario for the surgical day. The unique combination of Dr. Marlin’s expertise and our advanced dental technology allows for the best possible results every time.
Our In-House Laboratory
Once Dr. Marlin has conducted your procedure virtually, he will then send your plan to our in-house lab to prepare your handmade, high-end implants and crowns. Since 1985, we have worked integrally with our own in-house laboratory technician to produce the most aesthetically pleasing, long-lasting crowns, and other restorations.
We replicate your natural tooth shape, internal shade, and translucency, which cannot be matched by working with an off-site, commercial laboratory. Better yet, with our in-house laboratory, we can achieve a faster result without sacrificing quality.
Commercial labs can’t offer the same precision fit that we can achieve with our private lab. Instead of designing your crown based on a stock image, our lab technician creates everything to Dr. Marlin’s exact specifications. Fit is crucial to the long-term success of your restorations. Many of our patients have had the same crowns for over 35 years, which is 3-4 times longer than the national average!
