In many cases, there is more than one treatment option for you to consider. After a detailed analysis, your dentist should explain the pros and cons of each one to you. The following is a brief overview of the various treatment modalities for the reconstruction of a complete jaw.

Crowns Placed Over Implants
"Hats off” Doctor Marlin for the outstanding work done on my 12 crowns and implants 28 years ago. I moved from the area 25 years ago. Today my current dentist praised your work as he was evaluating my mouth after viewing my panoramic x-ray this morning. All 12 crowns are completely sound and do not need restored or replaced! Thank you, Dr. Marlin, for your exceptional skill.
There are several alternative full arch treatment options:
Patients are increasingly requesting additional information on the Immediate Load Fixed Hybrid Prosthesis as an alternative to their denture(s). If you are presently wearing a denture, you may want an opinion on one of these types of therapy. When deciding to replace the denture with a fixed appliance, most patients choose the Immediate Load Fixed Hybrid Prosthesis for cost reasons. However, others opt for the more natural Full-Arch Screw-Retained Porcelain Crown and Bridge Splint.
The Immediate Load Fixed Hybrid Prosthesis has all of the advantages discussed above, especially the cost factor. Dental implants can be inserted, bone grafts can be placed, and the patient’s denture can then be retrofitted to the implant fixtures to create a screw-down prosthesis. After four to six months, the final prosthesis is fabricated. It provides a full-arch fixed appliance with significantly reduced costs.
Dr. Gerald Marlin is a leading specialist in implant, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry. One of the only prosthodontists with an on-site lab, Dr. Marlin has been voted “Top Dentist” by his peers for more than 20 years in a row in Washingtonian Magazine’s annual “Best Dentist” survey, and is considered the most experienced prosthodontist in the D.C. area.
Why Choose Dr Gerald Marlin?
The Full Arch Crown and Bridge Splint is the most aesthetically and functionally natural appliance. It can be inserted over custom implant abutments (when patients do not want a screw down denture) or as a Screw-Retained Porcelain prosthesis. After it is screwed into the implants, it is as if the patient has regrown new teeth! However, it is the most expensive of the appliances. Approximately four to six months after the Transitional Prosthesis insertion, then either appliance is created by baking porcelain over a special framework.
The Six Unit Anterior Crown and Bridge Splint with a Precision Partial Denture may be a necessary alternative appliance to the Immediate Load Fixed Hybrid Prosthesis because the patient has additional teeth for chewing.
The Implant Supported Overdenture is the least expensive of the implant treatment options but is also very stable. However, since it is a removable appliance, the patient feels that it is more like a denture, making it less popular today than the Hybrid prosthesis.
With more than four decades of experience, Dr. Marlin will determine which full arch implant options are best suited for your unique situation. He will answer your questions, address your concerns, and develop a treatment that is designed to achieve your needs.
Dr. Marlin can help you obtain and enjoy the healthy, natural-looking smile you’ve always wanted by working closely with you to develop a customized treatment plan. Dr. Marlin treats every patient with the care and compassion he would give to one of his own family members. When you form a trusting partnership with Elite Prosthetic Dentistry, you will never feel rushed, pressured, or like just another appointment.
